Paris Metro

Paris was wonderful.

I fell in love with many things, including the metro system. It's thing like this that I miss from large cities. I like extremes, and Helsinki has few to offer, maybe besides the weather.

Being packed in with others, good smells and bad, there is an intensity, as well as an understanding. The anxiety, episodically cut by a flicker of a smile or sympathetic eyes, to acknowledge that yes, your elbow is on my shoulder, and yes, that's OK.

For a moment, we're all funnelled in like an ocean inlet. All particles of different shores, some salty, some sweet. Passing through, and out again, to the sprawling creeks, rivers, and tides, of Paris City.
